Australian quintet Karnivool has been dubbed hard rock, experimental, metal & progressive and compared to everyone from Tool to Incubus.
Though the sound is difficult to define, the music is complex, intriguing and enigmatically captivating. Earlier this year Karnivool released their second full-length album, Sound Awake.
Produced by Forrester Savell (The Butterfly Effect, Mammal, Dead Letter Circus), Sound Awake is kaleidoscopic & multi-dimensional. It delivers the band’s trademark sound and takes the listener to new heights as it ventures into innovative exploratory territory.
Gloriously anthemic, yet progressive in every sense of the word, Karnivool boast the prerequisite moments of rock bombast and foot-on-the-foldback bliss, but combine it with uncanny guitar chops, innovative riffing, experimental tuning, intriguing time signatures and spine-tingling melodies. Meanwhile, live, the band is unparalleled – KARNIVOOL are currently wrapping up their SOLD OUT “NEW DAY TOUR” in Australia and are thrilled to announce that they’ll be returning stateside next month for the North American leg.
Before touching down in the U.S., KARNIVOOL will play their first UK festival slot on Aug 1st as part of the Sonisphere Festival in Knebworth on the main stage with Iron Maiden, Alice In Chains & Slayer.
Tides of Man, the progressive rock group hailing from Tampa Bay Florida, are set to release
their debut full-length album, Empire Theory in early 2009.
Formed in December 2007, they released their self-titled EP only a few months later (April 2008). It is now available on iTunes and other online digital distribution stores, permitting their fast-growing fan-base to sample some of the musical styles that will be featured on the album, Empire Theory.
In the short span that the unsigned band has existed they have achieved notable Internet recognition, (over 48,000 MySpace friends, with up to 2000 plays a day). Based on the constant expansion the band receives from their local performances, the 2009 tours are in the works which will definitely boost the bands popularity over the course of the next year. The band’s ultimate goal is to conquer the rock and roll scene, incorporating intense communication lyrically and sonically, yet still in a style that is familiar enough to capture the hearts of the masses.
In the final stages of composition, Empire Theory’s detectable influences span from The
Mars Volta, Coheed & Cambria and Bjork, to Explosions in the Sky, Radiohead and
Pink Floyd. The album’s epic story tackles contemporary world issues, but focuses on
communicating purpose, success and failure, war, torture, hate, love, friendship forgiveness
and enlightenment. Tides of Man seek to inspire individuals to create beauty in their own
lives, whether through art or simply by improving their day-to-day decisions.
