Let's talk about a band, one that seems to simply steer clear of convention quite naturally at all turns. How many bands boast members who would first consider themselves actors, artists, designers, or filmmakers before considering themselves singers, guitarists, or drummers? But by always doing what feels most natural, stellastarr* is an unconventional…and unbelievable…musical experiment that everyone wants to believe in. While loads of their contemporaries weaned themselves on rock star wishes and guitar solo dreams, stellastarr* originated out of a spirit of friendship and artistic experimentation. Singer/guitarist Shawn Christensen, bassist Amanda Tannen, and drummer Arthur Kremer met while studying at Brooklyn art school Pratt Institute of the Arts.
NYC's the Postelles kick just enough modern cheek to their lyrics to undercut their perfectly sweet, '60s-inspired melodic pop. Their youthful urgency grabs you from the outset, playfully coaxing you into a world of snatched kisses and sneaked beers. Tightly constructed tunes rock socks from start to finish, and the boys play well beyond their years. (Leah, Viva-Radio)
"Finding authenticity in a world full of Landfill Pop isn't easy. Irv Irving stays clear of all the typical modern musical trappings, they [Irving and his band] get their music across not by hiring great stylists but through great songwriting."
Jorge DoCouto
(Co-Founder, East Village Radio)
"Youngster's shouldn't be this good at music, but they are, exhibiting that most mature and rarest of artistic qualities, Restraint and Good Taste. Their skill level as individuals, combined with an exemplary ensemble sensitivity, is truly shocking."
Roger Greenawalt
Record Producer (Ben Kweller, Nils Lofgren, Iggy Pop, No Doubt)
"'Irv Irving is a huge talent. Recording with him was an honor. I love his songs."
